Sex Offences Account for Two Thirds of High Court Cases

New figures from prosecutors have revealed that two-thirds of all High Court cases involve sexual offences.

The news comes following criminal statistics that showed that although crime in Scotland was down overall, the number of sexual assaults was up. Crime figures in Scotland showed that there was a 5% increase in the number of rapes in the last year, with sexual crimes rising by 11% from 8,604 to 9,557 in the same period, the highest total for 44 years.
