Aimée is a solicitor who joined Beltrami & Company in 2017. She studied law at the University of Aberdeen and completed her Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Glasgow. Aimée also holds a Diploma in Intellectual Property and Museum Collection Management from the Institute of Art and Law, Queen Mary University of London.

Prior to joining Beltrami & Company Aimée was a solicitor in Edinburgh at one of Scotland’s leading commercial law firms. Whilst there she was involved in high value, complex litigation cases in a leading dispute resolution team. Aimée routinely dealt with construction and engineering contracts. Her clients included international company directors, pension hedge funds and one of the UK's largest residential developers. As a result of this experience, upon joining Beltrami & Company Aimée was seconded to form part of the specialist legal team representing a core participant in the Edinburgh Tram Inquiry.

Prior to this, Aimée undertook a specialist legal traineeship where she practised exclusively in litigation. Whilst there, Aimée was involved in the high profile and complex Fatal Accident Inquiry that became known as the “Bin Lorry Inquiry”. She frequently dealt with cases in both the All-Scotland Personal Injury Court and the Court of Session. Her case load was varied and ranged from RTAs and cycling accidents, to more complex cases involving issues of Employer’s Liability and Public Liability.

Aimée has an interest in a diverse spectrum of legal work and has a particular interest in Statutory and Regulatory Crime. Aimée frequently appears representing clients in a variety of cases in the Sheriff Courts throughout the country. Further, she has assisted counsel in representing clients prosecuted in the High Court. Aimée has a broad-ranging practice including assault and serious assault, domestic cases, breach of the peace, public disorder, road traffic offences, misuse of drugs, police assault, stalking, offensive weapons, crimes of dishonesty including financial crime, lewd & libidinous conduct, rape and other sexual offences.

She has also has a keen interest in constitutional and public law and would be interested in assisting clients in the process of Judicial Review.

She has an acute understanding that when people experience severe life stressors, such as involvement with the courts and legal system, it can seem like life begins to unravel. Her passion for the law, coupled with a personalised approach to each case ensures that her client’s feel supported and informed throughout. She has a straightforward way of dealing with people that seems to get results. Aimée has been credited with a strong eye for the ‘small details’ and a creative approach to problem solving.

Aimée recently represented a client facing a charge of murder. After fastidious preparation and investigation, she successfully persuaded the Crown Office and Prosecution Service to cease with the prosecution against her client.

Working alongside Mr Macara QC, Aimée drafted and submitted an application to the ECHR in Strasbourg relating to a claim that the client’s human rights had been breached under Article 6(1), 6(2), and 6(3)(a) & (e) of the European Convention on Human Rights. These grounds relate to the right to a fair trial, the right to be presumed innocent and the right to be tried in a language which he understands.

Aimée was involved in the successful defence of an Ex-Hearts striker cleared of accusations of assaulting his partner and kidnapping a child. You can read our press release here.
